sonassis Iraqi Girls into Prostitution. Thanks alot George Bush!

NIQASH -- Muhammad al-Tamimi (Baghdad/Sulaymaniyah), 22 October 2007 -- The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) warned that the number of Iraqi refugees has now almost doubled since the end of last year, adding that Iraq is now the site of the Middle East's biggest refugee crisis since the creation of Israel in 1948.

The United Nations implored the international community to provide $60 million in emergency donations, in order to deal with the crisis. A specialist for t… Continue

sonassis The Sahrawi Dilemma. Have you seen my country?

We have all heard about the Middle East crisis. The entire mess with Palestine. The thousands of refugees escaping from war-torn Iraq. The millions dying because of the selfish decisions of few, powerful so-called leaders, like in North Korea, Sudan, Zimbabwe and others. Noboby ever heard about the Sahwari, and their country located in Western Sahara. These people got together and fought for their independence from Spain, and were punk'd as other african nations such as Morocco and Mariutina

CUBA: Sen. Obama, Please Do Your Homework

I wish Senator Obama had never written the op-ed about his Cuba policy (see below), but it seems to be a pre-requisite for his upcoming campaign stop in Miami. From a content standpoint, there is precious little:

sonassis Donate for Alive from Baghdad

A year ago, I subcribe to a podcast called "Alive from Baghdad". The podcast is made by Iraqi journalist, and every episode they bring the reality of Iraq to the world, by interviewing real iraquis. No politics included. It's very pure. Right now they are asking for a donation so they can keep their program runing. If somebody, eventually reads this blog. I recommend you to see these podcast, and maybe, donate.

Patrick A Million Iraqis Killed: This Has to Stop

This week and next, our senators will vote on amendments that, if approved, could wind down the occupation of Iraq. As a country, we need to enter this debate aware of the very serious consequences this war has had.

In a scientific study published in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet, researchers from Johns Hopkins estimated that 650,000 Iraqis had died because of our government's invasion of their country.1 That was last July - a full year ago.

Russ Well here I am again.

It's after 1 AM in the morning and I am unable to sleep. I just can't understand how any one can go about their daily activities as though everything is ok when it's not. It's like a bad dream where the government takes over every part of your life. This means you are not free to make your own choice. you must have permission to go or do anything you want. your future is decided by one man, this includes your job, who you are to marry, the location you live, etc. I do not want this world.

Joseph Bernard We Are the Deciders: A Call For Peaceful Force

The President and Vice President both have decided they are above the will of the voters. They got us into the war in Iraq and maybe soon the war in Iran. Make not mistake about it, this mess is all about power. There is one reason we went into Iraq and that is about establishing our power in the Middle East. The oil is part of that power grab. Bush and Chaney hiding behind there supposed Christian values lack any moral compass. The have lied us into war, murdered thousand of innocent Iraqis, t… Continue

shirley pate LINKS RE: GUINEA SOME FOREIGN POLICY INFO

As Patrick suggested, I am providing links to articles that will give you background on the recent uprising in Guinea.

In addition, I want to emphasize a few things about Guinea so you will know why the US (and France, Canada, China, etc.) are paying very close attention to the situation there. It largely centers on resources. Guinea is the world’s largest producer of bauxite, the raw material from which aluminum is made. In addition, there is strong evide

shirley pate VIDEO OF MASSACRE IN GUINEA

Check out the video I have posted. It shows a massacre of peaceful demonstrators during a people's uprising in Guinea, West Africa. After 23 years under a neoliberal-loving president who came to power under a military coup d'etat, the people of Guinea, led by unions, held several days of country-wide strikes in February. In an attempt to get the country "under control," President Lansana Conte brought in mercenaries from nearby Guinea-Bissau (to cover the atrocities already being committed by th… Continue
